New Zealand have tasted success at the Winter Games in the South Island, claiming titles in the men's and women's snowboard-slopestyle events at The Remarkables, near Queenstown, yesterday.
New Zealanders made up over half of the 30-strong qualifying men's field, with six making it through to the final 12, including eventual winner Stef Zeestraten.
His overall score of 44.0 points claimed the gold medal ahead of compatriot Nick Hyne's 42.6 and Norwegian Gjermund Braaten's 41.0.
"It was pretty cool to be home and do so well," Zeestraten said. "Not only are all the New Zealanders killing it, but it's awesome to see New Zealand put on a cool event."
Shelly Gotlieb won the women's event with 46.90.
"It was awesome to get gold in my home country, it's an awesome feeling" she said.
Recent New Zealand Open winner Jamie Anderson of the United States was second with 36.60 and Aimee Fuller of Great Britain was third with 27.80.
