Former world squash champion Ross Norman is on the mend after being the victim of a random bashing in the UK.
The 56-year-old Kiwi was left with horrific facial injuries when he was punched in the face by a stranger as he walked to the Richmond Tube station in London with his partner and her parents after a night out at a theatre.
The New Zealand Sports Hall of Fame member needed seven stitches to a gaping mouth wound and was left badly shaken.
"It all happened so quickly and I didn't see it coming," Mr Norman told the Weekend Herald from his home in Sunningdale, Berkshire. "I was walking along the street minding my own business and the next thing this guy smashed me in the face for no reason.
