While all the attention is given to Jarryd Hayne, a New Zealander is also close to cracking the NFL.
Arizona Cardinals fullback Paul Lasike has made his way through the first round of roster cuts - much like Hayne - as the Cardinals reduced their roster from 90 players to 75
Lasike attended Northland College and Church College before playing rugby at Brigham Young University. There he was picked up by the college football team, playing from 2012-2014.
He was undrafted in the 2015 NFL draft (not surprising for a fullback), eventually catching on with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent.
The 5'11", 105kg Lasike will never make headlines due to the nature of the fullback position, which is becoming outdated in the NFL. Fullbacks are largely used for blocking purposes, occasionally also being called upon for powerful goal-line rushing attempts.
