New Zealand kayakers Lisa Carrington and Teneale Hatton couldn't back up their gold medal from a day earlier as they tailed the field in the women's K2 500m final at the World Cup sprint canoe regatta in Vichy, France, today.
The pair, fresh from victory in the K2 1000m, finished ninth in the 500m final in a time of 1min 43.24sec, more than 4sec behind the German winners Caroline Leonhardt and Tina Dietze.
Yesterday, Carrington and Hatton powered home in the 1000m final in a time of 3:29.45, beating the Slovak pair of Ivana Kmetova and Martina Kohlova by 0.25sec after being sixth at the halfway point.
Meanwhile, New Zealand pair Troy Burbidge and Steve Ferguson were listed to start in the men's K2 500m B final today, but withdrew.
