Ben Fouhy's return to kayaking is almost complete
A deal between Fouhy and SPARC is ready to be signed off, allowing the Olympic silver medalList to train and prepare for the London Games separately from the New Zealand team.
Fouhy quit the sport two months ago after a major fallout with Ian and Stephen Ferguson.
This new arrangement, which has the support of Canoe Racing New Zealand, means he will be compete in the black singlet, but have nothing to do with the Fergusons or the rest of the team.
The new funding and performance model Fouhy will work under is similar to that used by the likes of triathlete Bevan Docherty and shot-putter Valerie Vili.
