The plight of baby Ayla, orphaned and fighting for her life, has moved well-wishers and today Mr Castle voiced his thanks to everybody who had helped the families cope over the past week.
"It's a long process for her now."
The Jerry Collins Memorial Fund page on the Givealittle website has raised more than $33,000 for 4-month-old Ayla.
Mr Castle said he spoke to Ms Madill's family last night, and confirmed Alana's father Darrell and older sister Nora would leave France in time to be here for Collins' funeral.
Ms Madill's mother Ruth and another sister, Brenna Smith, will stay with Ayla in France.
"So throughout this period, everybody has family close by," Mr Castle said.
He said the Collins and Madill families were both deeply grateful to the French rugby community.
Mr Castle said the 34-year-old rugby star's family was experiencing terrible anguish, pain and grief.
"This is their boy," he said.
But he was pleased to say the repatriation process was now underway.
"Jerry is on his way, which is of great relief and comfort."
He thanked local authorities for keeping a condolence book open at Porirua's Te Rauparaha arena, where Collins' funeral will be held on Wednesday.
"Jerry's a favourite son of this city."
Members of the public have placed tributes, flowers and messages of love and condolences at a shrine set up in the arena.
Mr Castle said private family ceremonies will be held from when Jerry arrived until Wednesday.
It was not yet confirmed who would speak at the funeral but a big contribution from family, local community and rugby fraternity was expected.
Mr Castle said it was expected the Norths (Northern United) rugby club in Porirua would retire the number 6 jersey for the rest of the season.
Mr Castle said it was important to remember how helpful the Narbonne rugby club in the south of France had been.
He thanked club president Anthony Hill, general manger Rocky Elsom and head coach Justin Harrison.
"The rugby community in France has been able to just descend on Montpellier in recent days to pay their respects. It's been a lovely tribute from the rugby community in France."
On Monday, 1500 people rallied in Narbonne to pay tribute to Mr Collins.
Mr Castle said he did not have details on the police investigation into the crash but it was possible some police findings would be released publicly in the future.
