KEY POINTS:
Team Kiwi Racing has announced that New Zealand V8 Touring car champion John McIntyre will partner rising V8 Supercar driver and fellow Kiwi Shane Van Gisbergen in the endurance rounds at Sandown and Bathurst. TKR is also going to offer the NZ V8 champion a fully paid official test drive in the team's car each year to promote and develop home-grown talent. McIntyre raced for Team Kiwi Racing in 2002-03 and finished third in the NZ V8 championships. He has also raced at Sandown and Bathurst in the Australian series.
Prumm confident
Bombay local Katherine Prumm has been taking part in the same training programme as Josh Coppins in the run-up to this weekend's final round of the women's world motocross championship in Holland. Prumm heads into the race trailing championship leader Livia Lancelot by a point. Having been in Europe for the past month, Prumm has acclimatised and is well prepared for the demanding deep sand of the Lierop track. She goes into the round full of confidence, having clinched the Australian women's national title this year and having learned on her arrival in Europe that she had won the Franklin under-19 sportswoman of the year title.
Dixon leads Indycar
Kiwi Scott Dixon takes a four-point lead into the penultimate round of the Indycar championships at Belle Island, Detroit - another road course - this weekend. Dixon, Dario Franchitti and Tony Kanaan are the only drivers with a realistic chance to take out the championships this year. Franchitti had a 65-point lead over Dixon not so long ago and now finds himself playing catch-up. Kanaan is 62 points further back but that is not an insurmountable amount to make up on the leaders.
Ferrari boss staying
While many of his compatriots are contemplating retirement, Ferrari boss Jean Todt has announced he has no intention of retiring as the team principal. This is despite the speculation that he may step down when Ferrari technical director Ross Brawn returns after taking a year off. Todt has hada challenging time since last season, when seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher retired andBrawn decided that he needed a sabbatical.
