KEY POINTS:
New Zealand V8 champion Kayne Scott is now unlikely to switch from Holden to Ford until the last two rounds of this season's championship. Scott, who won the title in a Commodore, had been expected to debut a new Ford Falcon next weekend at Manfeild. But team owner Mark Petch said the change would not happen until the Teretonga and Pukekohe rounds in March and April. Scott has stormed into contention with strong performances at Ruapuna and Taupo. The Petch team next week takes over the V8 Supercar that Scott will drive in Australian Supercars.
Mackenzie latest robbery target
A spate of robberies has hit teams in the New Zealand V8 championship, with a number reporting break-ins to their workshops and team transporters. Clues suggest the thieves are stealing to order. The latest victim was North Shore driver Haydn Mackenzie, whose transporter was ransacked outside the Tracer team workshop in Manukau.
Cox has the edge in super sedans
Steve Cox, in a Ferrari F40 replica, takes a five-point lead over Grant Brennan's new Corvette going into this weekend's round of the Super Sedan series at Taupo. Two points behind Brennan is Dean Evans in his Mazota - a Mazda RX7 powered by a V8 Toyota engine.
Bowe ready to Call it quits
Veteran John Bowe, who finished the last Pukekohe round of the V8 Supercars in the barriers after a high-speed crash, says this will be his final full-time season. Bowe, champion in 1995 in a Dick Johnson Ford, will drive this year for Paul Cruickshank Racing, renewing an association with the former Johnson engineer.
Prancing horse on menu for diners
Diners savouring their lasagne and red wine in Lygon St, Melbourne, on March 3 will be entertained by a drive-past by a Formula One Ferrari. Two weeks before the Australian Grand Prix the street will host a Ferrari festival celebrating 60 years of the Italian marque.
Ambrose quick off the mark
Former Australian V8 Supercar champion Marcos Ambrose is already making his mark in the Nascar Busch series ahead of the first race at Daytona next weekend. The Tasmanian was sixth fastest and the quickest non-Nextel Cup driver in this week's test at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Kogan tries out Stewart's matra
Spaniard Abba Kogan will drive a 1968 Matra MS10, once driven by triple world Formula One champion Jackie Stewart, at the Classic SpeedFest at Teretonga Park next weekend. Stewart won three races in the car, which has been restored by Invercargill company Leitch Motorsport.
