KEY POINTS:
Two-time women's world motocross champion Katherine Prumm has received an invitation from the head of the FIM, Dr Wolfgang Srb, to attend a strategic planning session on the sport in September. Meanwhile, Prumm has been preparing for the opening round of the FIM Women's World Championship on May 11 in Italy by taking part in an international men's event in Holland. Prumm finished 26th out of 36 in a field that included 10 GP riders.
Need for speed
F1 driver Robert Kubica has said he needs more speed from his BMW if the team wants to start winning races. The team has two second places so far this season and is second on the constructor's table behind McLaren. Round three of the championship is this weekend in Bahrain. Lewis Hamilton leads the title chase from Kimi Raikkonen and Nick Heidfeld.
At home on the road
Indycar pilot Kiwi Scott Dixon gears up for round two of the IRL series this weekend in St Petersburg, Florida. After winning the opener on the oval at Homestead, Dixon heads to the first of the road courses, circuits he likes. Dixon finished 0.6s behind winner Helio Castroneves last year.
Vee nice opportunity
A deal has been made between young Kiwi Supercar V8 driver Shane van Gisbergen and SBR boss Ross Stone to allow Van Gisbergen to race a Formula Vee back in New Zealand. Van Gisbergen will be home to race in the one-hour endurance race at Manfeild in May to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the New Zealand Formula Vee association.
Quattro comeback
Regarded as one of the most accomplished woman rally drivers, Michele Mouton will be driving an ex- works Audi Quattro at this year's Otago rally in Dunedin. Mouton, who finished second in the 1982 WRC championships, will drive the Quattro around the tarmac super special stage on the Saturday. The ex-factory car is from the 1984 season and is owned by Kiwi Malcolm Stewart.
