Wasim Raja, the Pakistani cricketer who began and ended his professional career playing against New Zealand, has died aged 54. A left-hand middle-order batsman and a right-arm bowler of leg-breaks, he made his test debut in New Zealand in Wellington in 1973, coming in at number six and making 10 and 41. His final test was in Auckland in 1985, when he made seven and 11. Raja played in 57 test matches, scoring 2821 runs, including four centuries. His bowling best was four for 50, against India in 1983-84. He also played in 54 one-day internationals.
