KEY POINTS:
Peter Badley, cricketer. Died aged 81.
The Parnell Cricket Club has provided some outstanding players - Merv Wallace leading a distinguished band - but none had the impact of Peter Badley's background work.
Badley joined Parnell in 1943, became secretary in 1946 and for the next 61 years (besides playing senior and lower grade cricket) was the mainspring of Parnell, and then Auckland, cricket.
He was twice president of Parnell and a life member, the secretary-treasurer of the Auckland Cricket Association, patron and a life member of the ACA and honoured by the Auckland Cricket Society.
Badley organised the ACA centennial publication, 100 Not Out, and regularly supplied statistics for ACA match programmes and for the Parnell 50th and 100th birthday publications.
He was among the band of hardy Parnell men who turned into guardians of the many pitches Parnell used over the years.
