The most batsmen to be run out in an ODI innings. It's happened 10 times.
Early Cup action
Some early World Cup-related activity for Gisborne and Napier. Two of the 14 cup-bound countries, Zimbabwe and the United Arab Emirates, are taking the chance for some extra preparatory work. Zimbabwe are arriving on January 30 and heading to Gisborne for a couple of warmup fixtures against composite Northern Districts-Poverty Bay teams at Harry Barker Reserve, plus training sessions for a few days before heading to Christchurch where they have official warmup matches. The UAE are doing a similar exercise in Napier, having two matches at Nelson Park against a Central Districts XI around the same time New Zealand and Pakistan will be playing their second ODI at McLean Park on February 3.
A step too far
Anyone puzzled at Dan Vettori's survival of an lbw referral in the second ODI against Sri Lanka in Hamilton on Thursday night? He'd stretched well forward for an attempted reverse sweep, was struck on the pad and given not out. Sri Lanka referred it and weren't happy when told it had been rejected as Vettori was more than 3m down the pitch when struck on the pad, therefore rendering the projected ball tracking path too much of a gamble for an accurate reading. Vettori was run out two balls later, the first of the four to depart that way.
