Number of centuries scored in the Australia-India series by stumps on the fourth day of the final test last night. Australia 8-7 ahead.
Comfortable for ND
Northern Districts stayed fourth after a comfortable four-wicket win over Canterbury in their Ford Trophy clash at Rangiora yesterday. Canterbury made 246 for seven, with Todd Astle cracking a rapid, unbeaten 62. ND overhauled that with 3.1 overs to spare, Mitchell Santner hitting 73 and Daryl Mitchell 54. ND have 12 points, five behind leaders Central Districts. Auckland are second on 15 points. Winless Wellington play third-placed Otago today.
Billboard blooper
The head of marketing at New Zealand Cricket maybe should have bent the ear of selectors Mike Hesson and Bruce Edgar before the naming of their World Cup squad on Thursday night. That would have prevented this slightly unfortunate billboard featuring cup non-starter Jimmy "The Hitman" Neesham.
