Latvia advanced to the second round of the ice hockey world championship by beating Austria 2-0 yesterday.
Forwards Martins Cipulis and Guntis Dzerins scored a goal each to help Latvia follow its upset victory over Sweden in a shootout on Tuesday.
Sweden scored three times in the last 12 minutes to beat the United States 6-5, meaning Latvia finished second in their group.
