An under-strength New Zealand women's hockey team has stunned Argentina 3-1 in the opening match of their three test series in Hamilton.
The ninth ranked Black Sticks have overturned a one-nil halftime deficit to score three unanswered goals against the world's number two ranked side.
Midfielder Ella Gunson says Argentina underestimated them.
"I think they came out thinking we were the underdogs and they had it a bit easy, so it was good to take the game to them."
Gunson says it was a comprehensive performance. She says the players kept the tempo up for the whole game and even when they got tired there was no sign of taking the foot off the accelerator.
The second test is in Tauranga tomorrow night.
