KEY POINTS:
New Zealand showed improvement but it was not enough to prevent China winning a women's hockey test 4-2 in Wellington yesterday. China beat the hosts 6-2 on Saturday.
The Black Sticks were more competitive yesterday and scored first when Lizzy Igasan converted a direct penalty corner strike in the opening minutes. The Chinese responded strongly to earn a 3-1 advantage by halftime. New Zealand drew back to 2-3 following a well executed Niniwa Roberts field goal but could not find the equaliser.
China completed the scoring immediately before fulltime to be slightly flattered by the final scoreline.
Their next match in the tri-series is against Ireland in Wellington on Wednesday.
