Hockey: Tournament honour for Child

Simon Child has been named player of the tournament at the recent Junior World Cup, after the Black Sticks junior men finished with a best ever result of fourth place.

Child, a current Black Stick and captain of the Junior Black Sticks, was also heading for top goal scorer of the tournament, until he was headed in the last few days by Netherlands player Mink van der Weerden.

Child scored 11 goals (8 field goals, 3 penalty strokes) against his Dutch counterpart who scored a total of 13 (all penalty corners).
