Top seeds New Zealand are travelling well in their bid to win the Champions Challenge hockey tournament in Malaysia.
An 8-3 win over Poland in their final pool game - to follow wins over Ireland (2-1) and Japan (6-1) enabled world No 6 New Zealand to finish top of Pool A and they now face a quarter-final against hosts Malaysia tonight.
Striker Simon Child won man of the match after bagging a hat-trick, with the other goals coming from Andy Hayward (2) Stephen Jenness, Blair Hilton and Hugo Inglis.
"It was a good performance," coach Colin Batch said. "We led 8-0 until late in the game and lost a bit of concentration.
"Malaysia will be a tough opponent. They have been playing below their normal level but have shown signs of improvement."
