A halftime serve from coach Kevin Towns sparked the New Zealand men's hockey team to a 4-3 win over Poland in Whangarei yesterday.
After an indifferent first half, Towns let rip at the players during the break and they responded with three quick goals to take an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-test series.
However, striker James Nation admitted the New Zealanders still haven't played as well as they would have liked building towards the upcoming Olympic qualifying tournament, and they will be looking for a much-improved performance in the final test in Whangarei this afternoon.
