KEY POINTS:
The New Zealand men's hockey team has made a commanding start to their whirlwind tour of Japan.
The Black Sticks have beaten Japan three-nil in Gifu in the first match of their five test series.
Black Sticks goalkeeper Paul Woolford says he had a quiet day at the office as his team-mates dictated terms to the Japanese.
Woolford says Japan were forced into wide penetrations into their circle and did not offer much, so he says it was a deserved win for the New Zealand team.
The next match of the series is tomorrow at 8pm New Zealand time.
