Unforced errors again hampered New Zealand in their 3-3 draw with Japan in yesterday's match at the Six Nations invitational hockey tournament in Kuala Lumpur.
The sides traded goals to finish 2-2 at halftime, then each scored in the closing minutes of the second half.
"We had a lot more of the possession, but we made mistakes and errors and were punished a couple of times," manager Arvind Jasmat said. 'We are a little bit disappointed at the draw, given the amount of possession we had."
David Kosoof scored in the 18th minute, Bevan Hari in the 21st, and Phillip Burrows in the 65th.
On Wednesday the New Zealanders gifted Pakistan a 3-1 win after unforced errors gave their opponents scoring opportunities.
After two losses and two draws New Zealand lie fourth. They meet the Netherlands today.
