The Junior Black Sticks were beaten 5-1 by Germany at the Sultan of Johor Cup in Johor Bahru, Malaysia last night.
Having won their first two games against Pakistan and Malaysia, the Junior Black Sticks struggled to compete with the Germans who demonstrated superior passing and receiving skills and controlled the game for long periods.
"We did not match Germany's work rate or passing skills. Overall, we did not play the game we wanted, in particular our passing resulted in too many turnovers," said head coach Grant Edwards.
Germany led 4-0 at halftime, with Kane Russell scoring with a successful penalty corner late in the second half for the Junior Black Sticks.
The Junior Black Sticks' next game is against Australia on Sunday morning.
