Hockey: Dutch beat Germans to go top of pool

The Netherlands have come from behind to beat Germany 3-2 in their pool game at the Owen G Glenn Champions Trophy hockey tournament in Auckland.

The Dutch took the lead early in the match through Billy Bakker but Germany replied with two goals in five minutes through Tobias Matania and Christophe Menke.

Jeroen Hertzberger struck back for the Netherlands just before halftime and Rogier Hofman scored the winner with four minutes left.

The Netherlands top pool B with two wins. The Germans have a one win, one loss record, having beaten New Zealand 2-1 on Saturday.

New Zealand must beat South Korea this afternoon and the Netherlands tomorrow (Tues) night to have a chance of progressing to the play-offs.

With the top two in each pool progressing, Germany have the easiest run in, with a match against South Korea tomorrow remaining.
