The New Zealand men's hockey team have begun their ascent towards the London Olympics with a solid 2-0 win over Belgium in Whangarei.
The Black Sticks have been very vocal in the build up to the Summer Series, making it clear this is the start of their Olympic campaign.
Andy Hayward, who scored one of the goals and had a hand in the second, says it's a step in the right direction.
Earlier, the women's side beat Korea 2-1 with Katie Glynn scoring the winner in the second half.
They lead their five match series 2-0.
