The New Zealand men's hockey team have drawn world No 1 Germany in their pool at the Olympic Games in Beijing in August. New Zealand, ranked No 10 in the world, will also play No 4 Spain, South Korea, Belgium and hosts China.
The other pool contains reigning Olympic champions Australia, the Netherlands, Britain, South Africa, Pakistan and Canada. A round robin format is being used at the Games, with the top two nations progressing to the semifinals.
The pools for the women's tournament also featuring New Zealand will be released after the last round of qualifying in Canada, starting this weekend.
