KEY POINTS:
New Zealand recorded the first win of their European tour against senior opposition, fighting back to beat Canada 2-1 in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, yesterday.
Goals either side of halftime by Phil Burrows and Ryan Archibald cancelled out Canadian Rob Short's sixth-minute opener. New Zealand, whose only previous success was a 7-1 drubbing of the Dutch under-21 side, dominated the Canadians but loose passes often undid some promising lead-up work.
New Zealand, who previously lost to Spain, Great Britain, Germany and Argentina, complete their three-week tour against Belgium early today.
The women's Black Sticks were beaten 2-1 by Japan at an Olympic Games warm-up tournament in Beijing yesterday. New Zealand's goal was scored by Jaimee Claxton from a penalty corner.
