KEY POINTS:
New Zealand left it late before sealing a 3-2 win over Germany in the playoff for third at the Punjab Gold Cup men's hockey tournament in India yesterday.
Joel Baker scored the decider in the last minute in Chandigarh.
He collected the ball just inside the circle and weaved past three German defenders before slotting home the winning goal, his first at international level.
The early signs were not good for the New Zealanders, who fell 0-1 behind in the 15th minute after a goal to Maxmillan Muller.
But the Black Sticks equalised shortly before halftime with an equally well taken goal from Andy Hayward.
New Zealand went ahead eight minutes into the second spell with a Lloyd Stephenson stroke.
Germany responded within two minutes through a penalty from Oskar Deecke before Baker struck after 90 seconds of added time.
The Netherlands won the final 2-1 over India.
