Paraparaumu born Andy Skeels is stepping in as the San Francisco Giants assistant hitting coach for their game against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.
Skeels, who coaches at Triple-A level is standing in for the game, with the usual coach Steve Decker on bereavement leave.
It's believed it makes him the first kiwi-born player or coach to strip for a MLB game.
Skeels was the coach of the New Zealand team in 2012 as they unsuccessfully chased a spot at the World Baseball Classic.
