Spectators were left in a state of shock on Friday after seeing Moto GP rider Michele Pirro suffer a horrific crash during practice at the Italian Grand Prix.
31-year-old Italian Pirro was driving at 210mph before he suddenly lost control of his vehicle at turn 1 of the circuit.
Pirro was then thrown off his bike and flung shockingly in the air before his body crashed back onto the Mugello track and rolled numerous times on the gravel.
Pirro, who lost consciousness upon hitting the ground and rolling onto the gravel, was immediately checked by medical staff.
The Italian was then taken to the circuit medical centre for a check-up. After regaining consciousness, he was taken to hospital in Florence for further tests.
