V8 Supercar driver Greg Murphy says broadcasters need to take more responsibility for expletives that make it to air.
Rugby league's Johnathan Thurston escaped punishment when his expletive-laden rant at a referee was broadcast and he has been given some support from Murphy.
Murphy says he has had his own problems with bad language making it to air. He says if it creates some argument or controversy the television networks love it.
Murphy says the broadcasters are always looking to create controversy and they know when something goes wrong that an expletive may be blurted out in frustration.
Murphy says it is a five thousand dollar fine if they drop the 'f bomb' on their car radio and it makes it to air.
Serena Williams was fined 82 thousand dollars after she verbally lashed out at officials at last year's US Open.
