Old-fashioned New Zealand grit was behind the remarkable win by New Zealand pair Greg Turner and Frank Nobilo over American stars Mark O'Meara and David Duval in their President's Cup golf match yesterday. Nobilo and Turner, both ranked outside the world's top 50, stunned many with their hard fought 1-up win against the second- and third-best players in the world. Described in one newspaper as a "pair of solid money-earners," the New Zealanders were not expected to match the American duo, who have an extraordinary record of success in this type of competition. Asked how the Kiwis managed to upset the hotly favoured pair, Nobilo replied: "The thing with Kiwis is that we'll nip at someone's heels all day and eventually we'll take their leg off."
