The International team's victory over the United States in the President's Cup golf tournament yesterday will go down as a great sporting achievement, according to New Zealander Frank Nobilo. Nobilo, who lost his singles match 4 and 2 to Jim Furyk yesterday, knew the Cup had been won as he came down the 16th fairway.
As Nobilo stepped up to play his second shot, Nick Price confirmed the victory by making par to score a 2 and 1 win over David Duval on the 17th -- all of which was shown on the giant television beside the 16th hole.
The International team won 201/2-111/2. "This is just unbelievable. I saw it on the TV as I was coming up here," Nobilo said after conceding the 16th hole and the match to Furyk. "I've been in every President's Cup so far and after losing the first two this was just such a fantastic experience."
