New Zealand's two representatives sit off the pace after the opening round of the Open Championship at the St Andrew Old Course overnight.
American Dustin Johnson leads at seven-under, one shot ahead of a six-man pack that includes Australia Jason Day and 1999 winner Paul Lawrie.
Kiwi Ryan Fox shotan even-par 72 in a round that included five birdies and five bogeys. He was three-under through 13 holes before recording three bogeys on the final five holes. He's currently tied for 77th.
"Definitely a bit nervous early on and actually hit a couple of great shots down the first and made birdie. Just really enjoyed it out there," Fox said.
"That finish is brutally tough and did well on a couple of holes just to make bogey, really, and really happy with a 72 in the end.
"It was fantastic. It's The Open at St. Andrews. It doesn't get any better for a golfer.
Compatriot Danny Lee is a further shot back at one-over tied for 100th. Like Fox the Greenbrier Classic winner had an up and down round with three birdies and four bogeys, dropping shots on two of the last four holes.
