New Zealand under-23 golf champion Danny Lee, 15, is through to the second round of the US junior amateur championship.
Lee, 15, fired four birdies while accounting for the 33rd qualifier, TJ Kua from Hawaii, 6 and 5 in the first round matchplay at the Rancho Sante Fe Country Club near San Diego.
The Rotorua golfer, who was seeded 32nd, faces a major task today when he meets top seed Arnond Vongvanij from Florida.
