Kiwi golfers Tim Wilkinson and Danny Lee have made slow starts to the Texas Open in San Antonio on the PGA Tour.
Wilkinson carded a seven-over 79 to finish the opening round in a share of 95th today, while Lee signed for an eight-over 80 as he slipped to 111th.
High winds made the day challenging for most as the scoring averages blew out. Charley Hoffman leads the event at five-under, while Australian Aaron Baddeley is in second at four-under.
Meanwhile, PGA Tour player Steven Alker, who has slipped to 186th on the FedEx Cup standings, is playing on the second-tier Web.com Tour circuit this week at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open.
The Hamilton professional was one-under through 13 holes in a share of 65th during his opening round today before play was suspended due to darkness. Rhein Gibson carded a nine-under 62 to hold the early lead.
