KEY POINTS:
Manawatu golfer Tim Wilkinson, New Zealand's newest US PGA tour player, will not compete in the Australian PGA championship beginning this week, opting instead to take a well-deserved break.
Wilkinson yesterday finished joint 14th in the gruelling six-round US tour school final qualifying series held in Florida in which the top 25 finishers and ties gained their PGA Tour cards for 2008.
However, Grant Waite and Brad Iles, who also contested the tour school finale, will be at the Hyatt Regency resort in Coolum.
Waite finished joint 48th while Iles finished 105th which earned them second tier Nationwide Tour status in the US.
Other New Zealanders in the 156-strong Australian PGA start list for the first round on Thursday are Doug Holloway, Josh Carmichael, Steve Alker, David Smail, Brad Shilton, Michael Long and Mahal Pearce.
