New Zealand golfer Tim Wilkinson has failed in his bid to qualify for the British Open in July.
The PGA Tour regular could not advance past an American international final qualifying event in Texas, where rounds of 73 and 68 left him well off the pace yesterday.
He was six shots behind the last of the eight players who qualified, among them American Tim Petrovic, who won the event with a total of 11-under-par 129, his compatriots Bo Van Pelt, DA Points, Tom Pernice junior, Glen Day and George McNeill, Scotsman Martin Laird and Australian Cameron Percy.
The 139th British Open starts at St Andrews in Scotland on July 15.
