KEY POINTS:
New Zealand golfer Tim Wilkinson has turned in another solid display on the United States PGA Tour.
Wilkinson, 29, opened the Buick Classic with a three-under par 69 on the north course at Torrey Pines, in San Diego, to slot well inside the top-20.
With many of the field yet to finish, he is four shots back from club house leader, American Troy Matteson and two behind world No 1 Tiger Woods, who both played the south course.
Wilkinson, who had a bogey free round, will play the south course tomorrow in good shape to make his second cut in three PGA tour events this season.
