Tim Wilkinson sits in a share of second place after the opening round of the PGA Tour's HP Byron Nelson Championship in Texas.
The Manawatu left-hander fired a four-under 66 to be one place behind leader Peter Hanson of Sweden in the US$6,900,000 event.
Wilkinson, part of the final group of the day, had a bogey on the opening hole before bouncing back with three straight birdies through 4, 5 and 6 to be two-under after the opening nine holes.
Another birdie at the 10th hole followed by his fifth birdie of the day at the 16th saw Wilkinson finish at five-under along with Australian Marc Leishman and American David Duval.
Last week's Players Championship winner Martin Kaymer is a further shot back along with seven other players.
