KEY POINTS:
The weather is forecast to put a dampener on this year's New Zealand Open near Arrowtown.
Rain is expected over the next couple of days which is not welcome news for organisers who are concerned about the effect it will have on spectators.
However, the golfers may well have a different view after an initial reconnaissance of the Hills course.
Several players commented about how challenging the rock hard, fast greens will be and will no doubt welcome any rain that makes their targets easier for the first round on Thursday.
Course owner Michael Hill tested things yesterday, playing with two young New Zealanders, and said the layout is in pristine condition.
He said the golfers he played with struggled to make par on most holes.
