Former New Zealand golf professional Greg Turner has labelled the venue for the Ryder Cup as "appalling".
The battle between the best golfers from Europe and the United States starts tonight, at the well manicured K Club just outside Dublin.
Turner says the course is very American, whereas the Irish should be holding the competition on a links course to take the visitors out of their comfort zone. He says the Ryder Cup is one of the biggest sporting events on the planet, so you would expect the Irish to buy the world a pint of Guinness, not a pint of frothy lager.
Greg Turner says there should still be a ton of interest in the event around the world, given it takes the best players out of their strokeplay comfort zone.
