Caddie Steve Williams has described Adam Scott's victory in the World Golf Championship-Bridgestone Invitational in the United States today as the greatest week of his life.
The New Zealand bagman was alongside the Australian as he shot a five-under-par 65 to win the $US8.5 million ($NZ10 million) tournament at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, by four shots from American Rickie Fowler and England's Luke Donald.
Sacked last month by former world No 1 Tiger Woods, Williams has agreed to carry Scott's bag on a fulltime basis and the invitational marked their first outing together as a permanent pairing.
Williams was sought out by American broadcasters immediately after today's closing round, a rare occurrence for a caddie, but it was indicative of the influence he has been credited with having over Scott, a 31-year-old who commentators says has not fulfilled his potential.
Williams made it clear he rated today's win very highly.
