KEY POINTS:
LONDON - England's Simon Dyson and Marc Warren of Scotland have been named by Britain and Ireland captain Nick Faldo as his two wildcard picks for the fifth edition of the Seve Trophy in Ireland next week.
Faldo's opposite number, Seve Ballesteros, selected fellow Spaniard Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano and Dane Thomas Bjorn as his wildcards for the Continental Europe team.
"In Marc Warren I'm bringing a player to the team that has come through a sudden-death playoff to claim each of his four professional wins, proving that he has a cool head under pressure," Faldo said yesterday.
"In Simon Dyson we have a player that has proved he can perform under the spotlight after a gritty performance at this year's US PGA Championship [finishing joint sixth]."
Ballesteros was pleased to maintain Bjorn's ever-present record in the event.
"I'm delighted to have someone of Thomas' experience in the team and we know what a great competitor he is in this format." "Gonzalo is one of the most exciting young players on the tour and I believe he will play a good role in the team," said Ballesteros.
Britain and Ireland lead the series 3-1 going into the September 27-30 match at the Heritage Golf & Spa Resort at Killenard, County Laois.
