KEY POINTS:
Bradley Iles and Tim Wilkinson improved their prospects marginally while Grant Waite backtracked on the second day of the United States PGA golf qualifying school in Florida today.
The three New Zealanders remained in the middle of the pack at Orange County National Golf Centre but there is still time to climb into the top 25 finishers who will qualify for golf's biggest stage, the full PGA tour.
After two of six rounds, Tauranga professional Iles is two-under in a tie for 89th, with Wilkinson one shot behind him and fellow-Nationwide Tour player Waite another stroke back on even par in a group sharing 121st place.
Iles carded a two-under 70 on the Crooked Cat course picking up birdies on the 15th and 17th hole to improve 32 places in the cut-throat tournament.
Wilkinson finished strongly to also shoot 70 today but Waite wasn't so comfortable on the same Panther Lake course, carding 73.
The tournament has runaway leader in the form of PGA stalwart Frank Lickliter II, who is 20-under, seven shots clear of fellow-American Jason Allred and Zimbabwe's Brendon de Jonge.
