WEST PALM BEACH, Florida - World No 1 Annika Sorenstam ended the LPGA women's golf season in triumphant style with a two-shot victory in the Tour Championship at Trump International today.
The 35-year-old fired a three-under-par 69 for a 72-hole total of six-under 282 to clinch her 10th title on the 2005 LPGA Tour.
Having dominated the women's game for the fifth year in a row, the nine-times major winner let her thoughts stray ahead to 2006 and beyond.
"This has been another great season and this victory caps it off," Sorenstam said after securing her 11th title worldwide this year and her third success in four years at Trump International.
"I have won a lot of big ones this year, two majors (Kraft Nabisco and LPGA Championship) and the World Championship, and this title ranks up there with the best," added the Swede, who also won a tournament in Sweden on the European Tour.
Before wrapping up her fourth Tour Championship, Sorenstam had already sealed a record eighth LPGA Player of the Year award, an eighth money list title ($3.8 million) and a sixth Vare Trophy for the season's lowest stroke average.
It is the fifth time she has achieved a clean sweep of the LPGA honours.
