Golf: Solid start for Iles in US

Bay of Plenty golf professional Bradley Iles yesterday made a solid start to the Miccosukee Championship on the Nationwide Tour in the United States. Iles shot a three-under 68, with birdies on three of his opening six holes, to lie just outside the top 10 after the opening round. Iles needs a series of top finishes on the second tier tour over the next month, as he seeks a 2010 place on the PGA Tour. Compatriot Phil Tataurangi posted a two-under 69 in the event.
