New Zealand golfer Tim Wilkinson made a solid start to a Nationwide Tour event in the United States today, firing a three-under par 69.
Wilkinson was five shots off tearaway leader Bryce Molder in the second tier $US475,000 Utah Energy Solutions Championship event.
American Molder held a three-shot lead at eight-under, with Wilkinson tied for 11th.
Wilkinson was two shots back from second place after a round featuring five birdies and two bogies.
Compatriot Michael Long, a former PGA tour player, shot a one-under 71.
On the PGA Tour, New Zealander Phil Tataurangi was well off the Canadian Open pace after a two-over 72 - nine shots behind leader Jim Furyk, the world No 3.
