Top New Zealand golfer David Smail remains on course for a top finish in US$1 million Chengdu Open in China after a third round four under par 68 left him in a tie for sixth, five shots off the pace.
China's Liang Wenchong continues to lead after he also fired a four-under-par 68 to be at 18 under par 198, three strokes ahead of Korea's Kim Hyung-tae and big-hitting Australian Kurt Barnes.
Korea's 19 year old Kim Bio carded a 69 and is four behind the leader.
