New Zealand golfer Stephen Scahill has retained his European Tour playing card for 2006 after the sixth and final round tour qualifying in Spain today (NZ time).
Scahill posted an even-par 72 at the San Roque club to finish the tournament at four-over-par 436 -- enough for a share of 23rd place with nine others. The top 30 and ties qualify for the Tour.
England's Tom Whitehouse won the tournament with a final round 68 to finish 13-under-par, followed by compatriots Robert Rock, 11-under, and David Griffiths, seven-under.
Thunderstorms saw play abandonded midway through the fifth round yesterday with Scahill sitting in a share of ninth.
The round was eventually completed with Scahill shooting 74.
Scahill, a regular tour member for the past decade, endured a poor season this year, meaning he had to revisit qualifying school to get his full card.
Scahill was more fortunate than compatriot Gareth Paddison, who missed the fourth round cut after a wild time.
