New Zealand No. 2 women's golfer Emily Perry has got off to a poor start in qualifying for the Ladies British Open Amateur Championship at the Carnoustie Links in Scotland.
The 21-year-old from the Lochiel Golf Club carded a 12 over par 84 to be in a share of 115th place after round one on the Open Championship venue.
She will begin round two 14 shots off the pace set by Celine Boutier (France) and Giulia Molinaro (Italy) who both opened with rounds of two under par 70.
The New Zealand Stroke Play Champion made one triple bogey, three double bogeys, six bogeys and three birdies in her forgettable round.
Perry is now faced with an uphill battle for qualifying for the final stages as she'll need a low round on day two to improve around 50 places on the leaderboard.
